COVID-19 is a dangerous disease caused by a virus discovered in December 2019 in Wuhan, China. It is very contagious and has quickly spread around the world.

Symptoms

People with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. People with these symptoms may have COVID-19:

Fever or chills
Cough
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Fatigue
Muscle or body aches
Headache
New loss of taste or smell
Sore throat
Congestion or runny nose
Nausea or vomiting
Diarrhea

Some symptoms might not be listed. A good way of knowing if you have COVID-19 is to get tested with either an at-home kit or at the Garfield County Hospital.

Seek medical care if you:

Have Trouble breathing
Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
New confusion
Inability to wake or stay awake
Pale, gray, or blue-colored skin, lips, or nail beds, depending on skin tone

Quarantine and Isolation

You quarantine and stay away from others when you have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19.

You isolate when you are sick or when you have been infected with the virus, even if you don’t have symptoms.

Quarantine

A strategy used to prevent transmission of COVID-19 by keeping people who have been in close contact with someone with COVID-19 apart from others.

If you were exposed to COVID-19 and are NOT up-to-date on COVID-19 Vaccinations Stay Home, Quarantine for at least 5 days, Get tested. After Quarantine, watch for symptoms Take precautions until day 10, wear a mask, avoid travel, avoid high-risk people
If you were exposed to COVID-19 and are up-to-date with vaccination or had confirmed COVID-19 within the past 90 days No Quarantine, unless you develop symptoms, Get Tested. Watch for symptoms Take precautions until day 10, wear a mask, avoid travel, avoid high-risk people.
       

Isolation

A strategy used to separate people with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 from those without COVID-19.

If you tested positive for COVID-19 or you have symptoms, regardless of vaccination status

Stay home for at least 5 days, or if you are fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication and your symptoms are improving. Stay away from others in your home.

If you did not have symptoms- End isolation after at least 5 full days after your positive test.

If you are severely ill with COVID-19, isolate for at least 10 days and consult your doctor. Take precautions until day 10. Wear a mask, avoid travel, avoid being around high-risk people.
